You should only be able to lift it six to eight times in succession. Your third set should be completed with an additional five pounds.

A post-workout stretch is as important as stretching before you get started. Hold a stretch for about thirty seconds if you are under forty years old. If you are over 40, hold the stretch for a minimum of 60 seconds. This prevents injuries from occurring when exercising.

When doing reps, count backwards from the number you're working toward. This will allow you to keep track of the number that you are on and also provide more motivation.
