An Easy Alternative to Cosmetic Surgery

By Andrew Wughin

Botox has become the preferred alternative to cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery is comparatively much more expensive, painful and uncomfortable, takes a longer time to heal, and comes with the possibility of complications. Botox on the other hand is relatively inexpensive, almost painless, requires no healing time and has almost no associated complications.

For over twenty years, Botox has been used safely for both cosmetic and medical purposes. Botox has been purified under very strict controlled conditions. It is a bacterium called clostridium botulinum.

Good Botox is Hardly Recognizable

Despite the wealth of available facts out there, there are still some stubborn myths that seem to stick to Botox and those who get the treatment. The popular media often portrays Botox, and those who seek it's treatment, in a poor light. Pictures of celebrities showing unnatural cosmetic surgery and extreme treatments can be wrongly mistaken for being the result of Botox. But Botox in the hands of a competent and practiced physician, simply does not produce those bad effects. Natural expressions should not be affected negatively in any way, as long as an experienced physician is administering the treatment.

A Desire for Youthful Skin

When you are youthful, your skin is firm and really elastic, but as you age this changes and the lines on your face divulge this change. The most obvious areas where we see changes first occur are in the forehead vicinity, around the outside of the eyes, and because of our frequency of smiling, in the region of the mouth. Of course, a worn-out look can occur because of this. The amazing outcomes from Botox eradicate this tired look. The areas that cause these problems are pinpointed and in the end, the facial muscles are relaxed. The outcome is a noticeable improvement in appearance.

Over time, the natural expressions that we make, like smiling or frowning, cause wrinkles to appear and set in. The muscles that make the facial skin fold or crease, give rise to crease lines that form into permanent wrinkles. By a simple process of inhibiting these muscles from causing creases, Botox goes about reversing this process.

Expectations and your Doctor

Although not required, your doctor may numb the area of the injection prior to administering your Botox injections. The procedure will likely take around ten minutes and you can return to daily activities shortly afterwards.

Doctors, dentists, assistants of physicians, and licensed nurses are typically the demographic taking Botox certification courses. This varies from state to state and it's important to understand that only physicians can buy Botox and it must be administered either by the physician or someone under their supervision.
