Eat Healthier With Easy-To-Make Protein Bars

By Sarah Johnson

The paleo lifestyle is growing in popularity, and so is the demand for paleo-friendly protein bars. The trouble is that they can get expensive, and they might not have the flavor choices you are looking for.

If you know what I'm talking about, and you like spending time in the kitchen - why not create your very own healthy protein bars? They may take time to bake, and they do not come in hassle-free single-serving containers, but with a little practice and some air tight plastic bags, you can develop your own healthy snack bars that you can take along with you in the car, to the health club or while traveling.

If you have actually ever read the labels for paleo bars, you probably have seen a few similarities. There are usually fewer than 10 ingredients, and several include nuts, coconut, protein powder and in some cases dried fruit.

These are all products that you can purchase at your neighborhood grocery store, mix in a blender, lay out in a baking dish and cook for roughly 15 minutes. When they are done, you simply take the baking dish out to cool, cut your bars into single-size servings and place in air-tight containers that are ready to eat when you are.

The first few recipes that you make might turn out some unexpected results as far as finding the flavor and consistency you prefer. There are several cost-free recipe samples on the web that you can find by conducting a fast search in a search engine.

When you discover a dish that you like, you can get nuts, seeds and protein powder in bulk and cut your costs. In addition to having nutritious meals - you will be saving money as well!

Nuts, of course, have protein, however, some individuals add egg or protein powder to boost the amount.

Nuts, shredded coconut and dried fruit will not stick by themselves. You want to add things like nut butter, coconut oil with flax seed meal or honey to hold everything together.

Flavorings such as vanilla or cinnamon can spice up your bars, in addition to a touch of salt. Get creative with the paleo items you include in your own recipes, as this can boost the taste, enhance the variety and make it easier to enjoy the paleolithic lifestyle.
