How To Increase Pitching Velocity

By Lela Perkins

When one is a pitcher in a baseball team, he actually holds one of the most important roles in baseball because he will actually be the one who will determine whether the team will gain the advantage or not. For this reason, the pitcher must be able to perfect his pitching. Now if one would want to know how to increase pitching velocity, he must take note of a lot of things.

Now when one is a pitcher, he must understand that the only way to throw a good pitch would be to use the whole body. Now the upper body, the lower body, the hips, the arms, and the legs must all work together with proper timing. Because of this concept, a pitcher must equally exercise all parts of his body.

Of course if he would want to pitch well, he must also remember the concept of fluidity. The famous martial artist Bruce Lee always emphasizes that if one would want to create force behind a hit, it is important to first be relaxed. The same concept would also apply to baseball as well as other sports.

Now to get down to the technical side of the pitch, one must first start with the hand and the arms. When using the arms properly, one must first remember to create a lot of centrifugal force. So the proper way to position the arms would be to pull it back in order to create a lot of rotational force.

After that, he must now concentrate on positioning his torso because this will also contribute to the force of the pitch. So remember to position the body sideways so that when one throws the ball, he will be able to twist the body at the right moment. This will create even more rotational or centrifugal force along with the arms.

The last part to concentrate on would be the force behind the leg power. Now notice that a lot of pitchers would lift their front leg up and quickly stomp on the ground the moment just right before they throw the pitch. The reason why they do this is because stomping on the ground will give the body extra power and thus create some extra force on the ball.

Once one has combined all of these technical and conceptual aspects all together, then it will result in an explosive pitch. So in a nutshell, one must stomp his foot, twist his body, and swing his arm all at the same time. Also, one must also remember to flick his wrist just a second before the pitch in order to give an extra speed booster.

So as one can see, all the motions have to be done in just one movement. Of course the preparation for the throw will take a little bit of time but the smashing of the leg, the twisting of the body, the rotation of the arm, and the flick of the wrist takes just one second. As long as one knows how to increase pitching velocity, he will know how to do this.
