With so many overweight people in our society looking for a quick way to lose weight, diet pills for weight loss have become a multi-billion dollar industry.

The results achieved from weight loss pills will vary from person to person. The majority of individuals using diet pills for weight loss do achieve some initial results. Although they can produce results, diet pills are not designed to be a long term weight loss program.

Appetite suppressants release the two hormones epinephrine and norepinephrine into the body. These two hormones affect ones appetite and give the feeling of being satisfied.

By reducing feelings of hunger they help to control overeating and snacking.

While appetites suppressants can be effective, they may also have side effects such as feeling jittery, stomach cramps, headaches, fatigue and more.

Appetite suppressants are not designed for long term use. You will have better and longer lasting results with diet pills if you gradually alter your lifestyle to include low calorie healthy foods and implement an exercise plan.

While appetite suppressants control hunger, fat blockers work to keep fat from being absorbed by the body. Instead excess fat is eliminated as wastes. Fat blockers are also designed to increase metabolism and energy.

As with appetite suppressants fat blockers also come with a list of possible side effects which include abdominal pain, oily stools and queasiness.

Although, both supplements are effective for weight loss, there is a strong possibility of putting the weight back on once you discontinue use. Adding an exercise program and developing healthy eating habits will help you to keep the weight off.

Once you are consistent with your healthier lifestyle changes you can eliminate the supplements and still maintain the weight loss.

Weight loss pills can be obtained over the counter or by prescription.
